Part-Time Custodian

Our longtime, beloved custodian has retired. Now we are looking for a new part-time employee to join our team at the Cooper Community Resource Center, 500 E. Lorain St., Oberlin.

Compensation: $15 per hour

Time: Flexible hours (approximately 10-12 hours per week), mostly Monday through Friday. Number of hours will grow from year to year. Occasional additional weekend hours as needed.

Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays.

General Job Description
We are a growing nonprofit dedicated to meeting basic food and emergency assistance needs of people in southern Lorain County. We recently moved into a beautiful new building, Cooper Community Resource Center, a place where people seeking help can get many needs met under one roof.

Duties and Responsibilities
Keep building and property in clean and orderly condition.
• Perform routine maintenance activities.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and/or vacuum floors.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Scrub, sanitize, and supply restroom facilities.
• Dust furniture, walls, and equipment as needed.
• Mix cleaning solutions in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Clean fixtures and furniture.
• Shampoo or steam-clean carpets and rugs.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies.
• Notify manager regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.

Qualifications and Skills:
Must be reliable, trustworthy, able to work independently.
• Committed to the service of others. 
• Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift heavy objects and otherwise maintain physical capability needed to complete the work successfully.
• Experience with using cleaning equipment and cleaning solutions.
• Very good communication skills.
